, there are hurricane force winds moving in. a lot of the energy will push westbound. some models want to take it into pennsylvania. if you just use your eyeballs to see what is happening, it is moving more westbound. it looks like northern delaware, northern maryland would be in the path of the storm unless it veers. that will track west through the northern suburbs bringing heavy rain. take a look at some of the graphics john collins has been busy putting together. you can see the offshore clouds and swirl. if it were not such a problem, if you could say it is gorgeous. it is an amazing storm system coming together. it has not transitioned fully from tropical to extra-tropical. we have been talking about how it will be a superstar. it is holding on to a lot of the tropical characteristics. it is starting to lose the wraparound convection. the higher clouds have diminished as it moves inland. still a powerful storm. these are the wind speeds. in the atlantic, the wind speeds died down. that is an estimate of where the eye was. it is racing ahead of the computer models. i think it is closer to

[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] >> our big story is the storm. pretty much the only story this morning quite frankly. the path of hurricane sandy. >> we have live team coverage from the eastern shore to the bay to the downtown areas. first let's check with tony pann who is tracking the storm. >> i have good and bad news. look at h.d. doppler. you will notice on the left-hand side of the screen the center of the storm is passing by ocean city. on the right-hand side that big white dot, that is the center of the storm. over on the left you see the mouth of the chesapeake championships how it is parallel will that. it will bypass the mouth of the bay. we expect it to make landfall in new jersey later today. but tfear of coming up the chesapeake bay is probably not going to happen. but there is heavy rain represented by the orange and red around baltimore city, annapolis, eastern shore counties. the winds gusting up to 20 miles an hour and that is about it but it be worse later today. at the airport you will see a northwest wind only about 12 miles an hour. we switch to
